We have been working hard to get answers to all of our reopening questions. Last Thursday, we participated in a Town Hall session where Dr. Roussin, Manitoba’s Chief Pubic Health Officer, answered a number of questions from child care centres about their services during this re-opening phase. From that event, and from our ongoing conversations with Early Learning and Child Care, we feel we have a good understanding of the practices and protocols in place within the child care sector. We compiled a list of our own questions about resuming our in-person services and are waiting for a response from Dr. Roussin. Once we have the information, we will share it with families.
In addition to the work we are doing to plan for resuming in-person services, we have been in conversations with our government funder, Manitoba Families, to discuss the options for children who are scheduled to leave Early Learning services at the end of this summer. We are working to develop options for additional support to help school transitions while respecting COVID-19 public health guidelines.
Finally, we have prepared a survey we are asking families currently accessing Early Learning services to complete. We need to hear what your family is comfortable with regarding resuming in-person services. Once we have your feedback and Dr. Roussin’s recommendations, we will be able to put together a plan for services going forward. Enhanced Consultative and Parent Support Model services will continue to be delivered remotely at this time.
Thank you all for your continued patience as we work towards safe and effective services. Your feedback will be incredibly meaningful in developing our plans moving forward.
Sincerely, Kerri
