Update to Health & Transition Families – July 17, 2020

July 17, 2020

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
You may have heard new information surrounding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the media and online in the past week.
There was a joint statement released by Public Health and the Manitoba Nurses Union, you can see it here. We want to reassure you that we have already had these guidelines in place and we will continue to provide PPE for all staff who are directly supporting anyone who is receiving services at Health and Transition Services.
We know that the recent severe and inclement weather has affected outdoor visits and we are continuing to work on ways to enhance the visits, making sure they are meaningful, all while aligning with Provincial Public Health Guidelines. We truly appreciate your feedback and are trying to find a sustainable solution for connection with your loved ones, for now, and the future.
Our team has developed a short document to help answer frequently asked questions around preparation for outdoor visits, you can find it attached here.
If you have any questions, please connect directly with the manager in your loved one’s area. They will have the most up to date and specific information for your family member.
We are still having joyful moments throughout the day, as you can see below, staff are creating safe and fun activities and capturing many big smiles throughout the day.

We wanted to reiterate that we continue to have no positive cases of COVID-19 in either staff or people supported at 440 River Road thanks to everyone’s adherence to Public Health guidelines.   St.Amant’s Accessibility Committee has a survey on removing barriers within the organization. Based on the results, the committee will focus on 10 barriers to remove. The brief survey can be found here:

We are immensely grateful for your patience and flexibility. We continue to appreciate your kindness and can only create such a safe space within Health and Transition services through your collaboration and support.
Sincerely,
Sarah Mankelow
Director, Health & Transitions Services
