Update to Health & Transition Services Families – December 16, 2020

December 16, 2020

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
We know that it has been a long while, so we are pleased to let you know that visits are again possible for the two designated family caregivers, who have family members supported on Adult Services West, Child & Young Adult Health Services, Adult Health Services East, and Stabilization Service (including those who moved from Adult Services East), effective December 17.
For those of you who have family supported on Adult Health Services West, your visits can start on December 24, following the ending of droplet contact precautions.
We have a beautiful new visitation space! Our Operations staff have worked hard and have converted the corporate suite (John and Shirley’s former offices) into two spaces for families to book a visit. The spaces meet the Public Health and Shared Health requirements for visits, including having a separate entrance for families (the door to enter is located in main entrance vestibule), as well as enhanced ventilation.
Visits are available between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily. Visits need to be pre-scheduled, and need to occur in the new visitation spaces (A&B).
Please contact one of the following to book a visit:

At this time, we are still in RED status following the Provincial Pandemic Response System. This means that general visitation remains suspended. The two designated family caregivers can visit, together if you live in the same household.
Please continue to pre-screen and do not come if you are feeling even a little unwell. Please call or email to cancel if you are unwell.
You will still need to come in to be screened, and to put on your medical mask and eye protection, which will be provided, prior to entering the visitation space. Please use the hand sanitizer provided prior to entering and maintain 6 feet of physical distance while in the space.
No drinks or food are allowed during the visits.
The Environmental Services team will clean the rooms between visits. When visits occur outside of the Environmental Services staff schedule, the Resident Assistant who accompanies your family member will complete a cleaning of the high touch surfaces prior to the next visit.
Please be mindful when entering and exit the visit space, and maintain 6 feet physical distance. Open the door, check for an empty hallway and proceed. If the hallway is not empty, close the door and wait until the previous family has entered or exited.
Please check your voice messages and the St.Amant website, prior to venturing out, for updates on outbreak status and be advised that there may be last minute cancellation of visits in the case of a new outbreak until contact tracing is complete.
For those of you who would like to bring a gift for your family member for Christmas, please ensure that it is wipeable. For those who have asked about bringing a gift for the staff, please ensure that it is in a wipeable container, and if it is food, that it is individually wrapped.
Thank you all for your patience and your support. We appreciate your diligence in helping us to keep your family members, each of you, and our staff as safe as possible.
If you have questions, please ask the manager of the service area where your family member is supported, or contact me at 204-256-4301 ext. 4226.
Be well.
