Update to Health & Transition Services Families – February 18, 2022

February 18, 2022

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,

We hope this email finds you healthy and well. Recently in the news you will have heard that public health restrictions are lifting over the next few weeks. At this time, we want to assure you that we are taking a very careful staged approach to our opening. We want to ensure your loved ones are able participate in some social activities but also remain safe from the risk of a COVID-19 infection.

Presently, we are continuing to work through an outbreak in our Adult Health Services East service area – with a total of 10 people supported now testing positive and one employee. Our Infection Prevention & Control Nurse and Clinical Educator have been connecting with staff regularly to ensure our residents are well cared for, PPE practices are being maintained, and that hand hygiene and necessary precautions are attended.

This week, the WRHA Long Term Care Program communicated updates to their visitation guidelines. Here are the guidelines we are following at this time:

Designated Family Caregivers (DFC) – Visitation is permitted on unit or in visitation suites or shelter pods. PPE is required at all times. If you wish to visit in the visitation suite, you must pre-plan your visit. Please call Ruth Tailleur at ext. 4298 to book your visit.

General visitors:
Vaccinated

  • Visits must be pre-booked. Please contact Ruth Tailleur at ext. 4298
  • Visit will occur in visitation suite, or out shelter pod only
  • Staff will screen you at the door – must present proof of vaccination and ID
  • PPE required
  • Physical distancing required
  • Max two visitors

Unvaccinated:

  • Visits must be pre-booked. Please contact Ruth Tailleur at ext. 4298
  • Shelter pod or outdoor visits only
  • Staff will screen you upon entry to shelter pod
  • PPE required
  • Physical distancing required
  • Max two visitors – from same household only
  • No children visits for now

*No food and drink permitted at this time in the rooms of people supported or visitation suites/shelter pod
* General visitors are not permitted on outbreak units at this time.

We are looking forward to more COVID care free and warmer days ahead.

Please reach out at any time if you have questions.
