The Community Residential Program provides a range of services to children and adults who require supports to fully live and participate in the community within Manitoba. More information can be found here.
Our staff have the satisfaction of knowing they make a difference – no matter what area of St.Amant they call their own. Every member of our team receives access to our onsite fitness facility for just a one-time $40 access fee and also can use computer kiosks with internet access. We also have an onsite chapel, ATM and cafeteria which offers quality, wholesome meals at a reasonable cost. We are proud to offer staff opportunities to participate in professional, leadership and management development activities and also offer access to financial resources. Professional development activities may include credit and non-credit courses, workshops, seminars, teleconferences, audio-visual materials and webinars.
The St.Amant team is our most valuable resource – and we celebrate our staff with three annual events: a staff picnic in June, long service recognition event in December and staff appreciation day in March.
Support Worker Stories
Fawn
Fawn applied to work for the St.Amant Community Residential Program three years ago and she had no idea how it would change her life.
She’s been a support worker with the same home and has become friends with her co-workers who have shared in some of the special moments in her life like her wedding and graduation. A family friend told her to apply, as she was looking for full time work while she was on a wait list for school. The pay was good compared to other entry level jobs and the hours worked with her schedule when she started her two year program at Red River College to become a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
Fawn likes the functions put on by St.Amant that allows you to get to know the St.Amant community. One aspect of CRP that she enjoys is brainstorming the goals and achievements with the gentlemen at the house. When they follow through on it, it makes her feel proud. In the house she works at she likes that they are strong team that works together. She has made friends and lifelong memories all because a she filled out an application form to work for St.Amant.
Stephanie
Stephanie is in her seventh year as a support worker and still enjoys the challenges the Community Residential Program provides; and has no complaints about her tenure with St.Amant. She left St.Amant for one year, when her husband was transferred to Ontario for a training opportunity. Stephanie went with him and found a position in a community home there. She saw the differences between St.Amant and the Ontario community home she worked for. It gave her the perspective that those supported and employed by St.Amant are in a great place. The level of training, opportunities and the potential to move up in the company makes St.Amant stand out from the rest. When her husband’s training was complete they moved back to Winnipeg and she knew she wanted to return to St.Amant.
She has met many individuals, parents and staff in the eight homes she has worked. Seeing the individuals having a great life and being a part of their community is what has kept her with the organization. Stephanie fondly remembers taking the women she supports to events like the staff BBQs and a trip to Grand Forks.
Tammy
Tammy enjoys a good challenge at work. And as a Team Leader she’s found the right position! There were really challenging youth in the home she started in as a support worker but she enjoyed the challenges and the rewards. That’s what still keeps her at that same home now as a Team Leader.
As Team Leader she carries a heavy load. Tammy ensures the kids are out in the community, their needs are met, and the staff needs are met too. She balances administrative heavy load with some fun. By actively participates with the kids and takes them to things like The Red River Ex, the park, swimming, fishing, go-karting, picnicking or bike riding. Over the years she knows that she has made a difference in the lives of people she supports. They bring home good test results, beautiful artwork and other school or community projects to her. That makes everything worth it.
