Foundation Supports Ongoing Vibrant Community Connections

January 30, 2015

Jessica and 12 other individuals that we support through River Road Place got all dressed up to take part in the Princess Ball at The Fort Garry Hotel on Sunday, November 16.
“It was fun,” Jessica shared, “I got to feel like a princess! When we arrived we were all given magic wands, it was just like being in a fairy tale.” The Princess Ball was appropriately held in the Crystal Ball Room, magically decorated with an abundance of cakes and cupcakes. Jessica says her favourite parts were, “Dancing and the food and getting to take pictures with the Princesses and Princes.” Dana, a friend of Jessica’s happened to be the photographer, they were happy to see each other again.
Thanks to our generous donors and the St.Amant Foundation, people we support were able to take part in this wonderful evening. The tickets were purchased through a special fund raised by the St.Amant Foundation. The fund allows individuals in our residential programs to take part in recreational activities that they have expressed an interest in joining. In addition to the $50,000 Recreation Fund, the Foundation has also funded four other special funds this year including: the St.Amant Leisure Guide, Personal Items and Equipment, and Education and Technology, for a grand total for $175,000 in funding that will help enhance the quality of life of the individuals that we support, help them build social networks and fulfill their potential.
Currently, all individuals that we support through residential programs are eligible to access these funds through staff applications.
Reflecting back Jessica says, “I’m glad I got the chance to go.” She would love to attend another ball like this in the future and thinks all of the people supported by St.Amant would like to go to a special event of their own choice at some point.
