Inclusion Winnipeg presents Advocating for your Family MemberSaturday, June 24, 2017 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Main Floor Boardroom, 120 Maryland Street The seminar will assist families to attain what their need and want for their family member using effective advocacy strategies and approaches. THE PRESENTERS: Bob Jones has been involved in various forms of advocacy ranging from family advocacy to systems advocacy in Canada and the United States. Currently he is working as a consultant with Community Living Manitoba in the area of family engagement. His advocacy background includes Coordinator of Citizen Advocacy Manitoba; Field Staff with Georgia Justice Project; Instructor in the Disability and Community Support Program at Red River College; and a ten year involvement as a member of a support network for an individual. Rod Lauder has been the Advocacy Coordinator for Inclusion Winnipeg since 1999 and is a Substitute Decision Maker for a friend he has known for over thirty-seven years. He is a Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children board member and previously served as the Advocacy Coordinator for the Independent Living Resource Centre and Winnipeg Citizen Advocacy. Respites subsidies up to $120.00 per family will be provided to enable one or more family member attend the seminar. Registration is limited to 25 participants.
