Frozen pipe burst at St.Amant

January 2, 2018

A pipe burst at St.Amant’s 440 River Road location on January 1 at roughly 5pm. The pipe was located in the school administrative area; the water ran through the school administrative offices and down into the physiotherapy and community day service rooms below. The leak set off our alarm and City of Winnipeg fire crews responded and helped with the initial water clean-up. St.Amant’s Facilities and Environmental Services staff came in to clean and restore the area last night. The insurance company has been contacted and is working on the claim and restoration.
The areas continue to be cleaned. Staff working in the school administrative office and the physiotherapy and community day services space are temporarily relocated until we know the extent of the damage and repair needs.
None of the people who live at River Road Place were affected. Although program and services in the physiotherapy and community day services areas are affected, we did not have to cancel services. We are very grateful to the Winnipeg Firefighters and the St.Amant staff for their quick, efficient response.
If there are any changes to services, we share any updates.
