Bell MTS Volunteers support St.Amant during pandemic

February 19, 2021

A dedicated group of retired BellMTS staff use their collective skills and resources and donated fabric and notions to fill a wide variety of needs in the community. St.Amant Foundation has been blessed to be a recipient of some of their wares over the years but the support we received in 2020 was extraordinary.

They have provided almost 1000 non-medical face masks for our staff and visitors and nearly 450 non-medical protective gowns for staff in community homes to wear.
Jo-Anne Pelzer, Project Manager and spokeswoman for the “Tuesday Group” wasn’t sure if they would be able to continue when COVID-19 hit, or if there would still be a need. As it turns out, the need actually increased and, while processes have changed and they no longer gather together on Tuesdays, the impact they continue to make in the community is tremendous.
This is in addition to their on-going work making heart pillows for cardiac patients, kidney pillows for kidney donors and transplant recipients. This year they also made approximately 3,700 custom surgical hats for front-line health care workers with mask supporting buttons and ear protection.

The volunteers are certainly making good on their mission which includes, “To provide materials and services that respond to a local/global community need.”
St.Amant and St.Amant Foundation staff are so grateful for this amazing support!
