Dear Health and Transition Services Families,
We are very pleased to share that we continue to have no positive cases of COVID-19 in either staff or people supported at 440 River Road. We are able to keep everyone safe and healthy with your collaboration and by carefully following the recommendations from Manitoba Public Health.
We have been very happy to see the many outdoor visits outside of the building, and have heard that these visits are bringing joy during this difficult time. Please know that we are managing the mosquitos around 440 River Road and keeping up on all weather updates to make outdoor visits as pleasant as possible. We understand that this latest heat wave has been trying for everyone and we are keeping the extreme weather in mind when planning the space for your visits. While we know being outside isn’t always ideal, it is still the safest way to see your loved one in-person at this time.
The province has announced a plan to implement outdoor visitation shelters for the fall and winter months and are asking for feedback. We would like to encourage you to have your say here by answering the survey, and sharing how you would like to see these visitation shelters designed. We are still awaiting details on this project from the province and will provide any information that we have with you, as soon as we have it.
Although we are seeing changes and re-openings within our province and other parts of our organization, we want to emphasize that we are still diligently following all Manitoba Public Health recommendations and protocols as the health and safety of your loved ones, and our staff, remains our top priority.
We can see how difficult it is to be separated from your loved ones. Please know we are doing everything we can to keep them connected with you- we’ve noticed the outdoor visits are a real highlight. We are also happy to share that we are still seeing a lot of happy moments in this new and different environment; staff are working to keep everyone engaged in meaningful activities that bring joy to their day to day lives. Those who participate in our gardening program were delighted with their first harvest last week!
We can’t thank you enough for your patience and collaboration throughout this challenging time. We look forward to seeing you at your outdoor visits and to sharing more information with you, as we have it.
