Update to Health & Transition Services Families – March 25, 2022

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,

Spring weather is here and while March and April are known to be occasionally unpredictable in their weather patterns, I think it is safe to say we are on our way to warmer temperatures and one day soon – some green grass!

I wanted to let you all know that as health restrictions lift here in Winnipeg, Health & Transition Services is taking a slow and steady approach to re-opening.

Nothing has changed right now for our visitations – we continue to welcome both vaccinated and unvaccinated designated caregivers and visitors. For general visitors, we do require a call ahead of time, so we can book appropriate visitation rooms. We still require all the necessary PPE and are still careful about our physical distancing and hand hygiene.

With the warmer weather comes requests by many staff to start planning more outings and events for the people we support. At this time, each outing or request to attend an external public event is reviewed carefully. With many locations permitting full occupancy and no longer requiring masks, we must still consider the exposure risk for the people we support.

If you feel strongly that your loved one should or should NOT attend a public outing, please connect with your designated social worker or reach out to the manager.

We are still planning many events in-house here at H&TS and we are looking forward to resuming regular recreation activities.

If you have any questions, please reach out at any time.

Jennifer Busch, Senior Manager
Health & Transition Services
