Celebrate Francisco Gonzalez: Recipient of the Devin Ramdoyal Award for Compassion & Friendship

April 30, 2025

On April 10, the Volunteer Appreciation Awards celebrated the kind, caring, and gracious individuals who donate their time to St.Amant. In honour of Volunteer Appreciation Week, we will be sharing some words from the award recipients.

Francisco Gonzalez was the recipient of the Devin Ramdoyal Award for Compassion and Friendship. Francisco carries Devin’s spirit forward; continuing his dreams, a symbolic gesture that illustrates the enduring power of friendship, compassion and shared human experience.

“What I enjoy most about volunteering is making people’s day. My favourite memory was when I babysat for a cute little baby! I also really enjoyed attending the Volunteer Award ceremony.

I keep coming back in honour of Devin, who was an amazing volunteer and little brother figure. Devin sadly left this world following an overdose.  I would say if you are considering volunteering at St.Amant, it is certainly worth your time and a perfect opportunity to learn. I hope to hold a permanent position at St.Amant one day.”

Francisco, thank you for your extraordinary courage and unwavering compassion in the face of personal struggles. Your journey reflects resilience and strength and is a story of profound love and loyalty.

There are no disability rights; only human rights. I was reminded of that old saying when thinking about the busy month ahead of us.
