Celebrating Aditi Agnihotri: Recipient of the Devin Ramdoyal Award for Compassion & Friendship

April 30, 2025

Did you know that each week, 400 St.Amant volunteers help enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities or autism? On April 10th, the Volunteer Appreciation Awards celebrated the kind, caring, and gracious individuals who donate their time to St.Amant. In honour of Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 27th– May 2nd), we will be sharing some words from the award recipients on their experience volunteering at St.Amant.

Aditi Agnihotri was the recipient of the Devin Ramdoyal Award for Compassion and Friendship. Aditi is recognized for their exceptional advocacy and commitment to mental health awareness and support. Aditi is a dedicated volunteer at their school’s Mental Health Club, demonstrating a deep commitment and calling to helping others and fostering a supportive community.

“The best part about volunteering is the chance to connect with the people I work with. It’s not just about what we do, but the relationships we build. I really enjoy spending time with others and knowing that I’m making a positive impact on their lives.

One of my favourite memories is working with a youth named Ricky. We spend time reading together and going on walks. These activities really help Ricky with his social skills and make him feel more connected. While reading and walking might not seem like mental health activities, they really do help with things like reducing anxiety and building confidence. It’s really special to see how these small activities can make such a big difference in his life.

The people at St.Amant are definitely what keep me coming back. It’s inspiring to see the strength and positivity of the people supported by St.Amant, as well as the staff. The community is really welcoming, and it makes me want to keep helping out and being part of it.

Volunteering at St.Amant is a great way to learn more about others, especially about empathy and patience. The experience has been really rewarding for me, and I think anyone would enjoy it and feel like they’re making a difference.”

Aditi, your actions highlight the power of kindness, the importance of compassion and the impact of mental health advocacy in creating positive change for all. Thank you for all that you do!
