Celebrating Tayo Odigwe: Adult Volunteer of the Year

April 29, 2025

Did you know that each week, 400 St.Amant volunteers help enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities or autism? On April 10th, the Volunteer Appreciation Awards celebrated the kind, caring, and gracious individuals who donate their time to St.Amant. In honour of Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 27th– May 2nd), we will be sharing some words from the award recipients on their experience volunteering at St.Amant.

Tayo Odigwe was the recipient of the Adult Volunteer of the Year Award. From the very first moment she walked through our doors, Tayo has been a shining light in the St.Amant family. From day one, Tayo has jumped in with both feet and an open heart. She radiates optimism, warmth, and a spirit of belonging that makes everyone around her feel seen and valued.

“What I enjoy most about volunteering is bringing joy to people’s faces, it is always great when they are happy to see you and smiling and even dancing. My favourite memory is when we were playing board games in the cafeteria and having loads of fun interacting with each other while watching the games!

What keeps me coming back is the sense of family and inclusion you get by volunteering repeatedly. You get an extra family that is concerned about you and appreciates your service.

I would tell someone who is considering volunteering to go for it! It is an opportunity to bond with the St.Amant family and gain experience if you want to engage in that particular field of work.”

Tayo, thank you for bringing your light, your kindness, and your wholehearted spirit to St.Amant. We’re so lucky you chose us, and even luckier to now call you family.
