Community in Bloom

August 13, 2025

The summer season is in full swing and St.Amant community homes have been working hard to perfect their gardens for Community in Bloom!

Thanks to a wonderful annual donation from Jensen’s Nursery and Garden Centre, community homes are challenged to create the most beautiful outdoor space—entering categories like Best Sustainable Garden, Best Small Garden, Best Edible Garden, and Most Improved Garden. This year, 37 St.Amant homes participated! The St.Amant Foundation spent the day touring homes all over the city, connecting with staff and people supported by St.Amant and admiring each garden. Every space was unique, reflecting the pride and dedication of those who care for it.

Community in Bloom encourages creativity and innovation amongst St.Amant homes, while adding a vibrant pop of colour and even fresh fruit and vegetables to the neighborhood. Competition is fierce, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners claiming cash prizes (and bragging rights).

A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Susan Jensen of Jensen’s Nursery and Garden Centre, who has donated gift cards to St.Amant homes for many years, ensuring that each garden looks its best when Community in Bloom rolls around.

A frequent “guest judge”, Susan shared that her favourite memory of Community in Bloom is the excitement and pride everyone displays when showing off their garden. Susan says “The community St.Amant has built is amazing… I love seeing everyone at the garden centre.  They’re always so excited to see the flowers.”

Thank you to everyone who participated, and a special thank you to Jensen Nursery and Garden Centre for their continued support.
