Disability Matters: Vote 2016 Update

March 18, 2016

St.Amant cares deeply about disability issues and is actively supporting the Disability Matters: Vote 2016 campaign. It is a non-partisan campaign to highlight the importance of cross-disability issues during the upcoming provincial election and we need your help too! Here’s how:
1 – Save The Dates!
On Tuesday, April 5 from 7 pm – 8:30 pm, there’ll be a Family Information & Rally at St.Amant. Another one will be held on Thursday, April 7 at
120 Maryland (Community Living Manitoba) from 7 pm – 8:30 pm. Hear about DMV2016 and how to get involved! Refreshments will be available. John Leggat, St.Amant President & CEO, will also call to invite families to attend this event.
DMV2016 is also happy to announce that all 4 major parties will participate in The Disability Matters: Vote 2016 GREAT DEBATE.
Thursday, March 31
The Norwood Hotel – 112 Marion Street
10 am – 12 pm (please arrive early as the debate will begin promptly at 10 am)
Big thanks to the Norwood Hotel for helping to sponsor this event!
DMV2016 will also live stream the event – link will be available on the home page of the Disability Matters: Vote 2016 website on the day of the event.
2 – Commit To Voting
Tell all your friends and family that you are voting Disability Matters in the 2016 Provincial Election April 19. Share this on social media.
3 – Register To Vote
If you have not yet been enumerated or did not receive an enumeration record you can contact your returning office up until April 7 to arrange for an election official to visit you at home.
Or you can visit your returning office to register to vote. Returning offices are open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. except Sunday, when they are open from noon until 6:00 p.m.To find the address of your returning office, you can visit the Elections Manitoba website: www.electionsmanitoba.ca.
Note that we will have an ASL interpreter and a note-taker at the event. If you require any other accommodation, please make a request via email at vote@disabilitymatters2016.ca by Thursday March 17.
