Dementia Care Series: Healthy Aging

Dementia Care Series

This 9-part dementia care series is from the NTG Canadian Consortium and covers health care advocacy, aging and how dementia affects adults with intellectual disabilities.  It teaches how to make quality observations, recognize age-related changes, and understand the progression of dementia.  It introduces the NTG-EDSD screening tool and emphasizes the role of caregiver input.  The modules also address creating dementia-friendly environments, applying key concepts and understanding responsive behaviors to better support individuals through proactive, flexible approaches.

Healthy Aging

This module focuses on understanding what helps people age well and why it’s important to think about health across the whole lifespan.  It also looks at the health challenges adults with intellectual disabilities may face and how we can use this knowledge to support healthier aging.
