Plain language writing is clear, concise, well-organized writing that the reader can understand after reading it only once. This workshop explores literacy skills in Canada, and current best practices related to writing in plain language. If you regularly communicate with staff, families, members of the public or to large groups of people, this workshop will give you the tools you need in order to write communication that everyone can understand.
- Describe why writing in plain language is important.
- Recognize times to use plain language.
- Commit to writing in plain language.
- Identify ways to make your writing clear and easy to understand.
- Demonstrate the ability to calculate the reading level of your writing.
