Training Overview
Based upon the workbook, “The Agency Guide to the Adults Living with an Intellectual Disability Act (ALIDA)”, this session explores ways that we can support people to live a full life and have full citizenship in community. This session touches on a wide variety of topics that affect our daily work, with a focus on empowering the people we support to exercise their rights.
Learning Objectives
- State the five guiding principles of the ALIDA and how they relate to the people we support.
- Explain how our choice of words and labels impact the people we support.
- Identify ways to provide choices.
- Compare legal decision making status and how it affects the daily life of the people we support.
What you can expect:
In this workshop you can expect lectures, videos, group discussions and breakout rooms. You must join with a device that has a webcam and microphone.
