Introduction to Life in Full Colour

Training Overview
This workshop introduces Life in Full Colour and is intended for programs that do not provide direct support to adults.
Driven by the Adults Living with an Intellectual Disability Act, ALIDA, we will touch on a variety of topics such as empowering people to exercise their rights, understanding how to respectfully interact with the people we support, and promoting inclusion and respect. The session includes opportunities for reflection and discussion, with an emphasis on building awareness and applying inclusive practices in everyday work.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify how current legislation relates to our work
- Select words and language that demonstrate respect and dignity for the people we support
- Recognize personal biases and assumptions and understand how they impact ourselves and others
- Contribute to a more inclusive community for people with disabilities
What you can expect:
In this workshop you can expect lectures, videos, and group discussions. If your session date is online, you must join with a device that has a webcam and microphone. If your session is in person, see the location or your confirmation email for details.
