Mindful Practice for DSPs

Training Overview
In this workshop you will learn about the unique needs, sensitivities, and preferences of people with intellectual disabilities. We will examine the short and long-term impacts of stress, and how we can use mindfulness to make the support we provide as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We will look at examples of how mindfulness impacts ourselves as well as those around us.
Learning Objectives
- Compare the way people experience stress, and how that stress impacts their health.
- Recognize the potential for stress in the support that we provide to people.
- Identify the three guiding principles of mindfulness.
- Relate mindfulness to our own experience and work.
What you can expect:
In this workshop you can expect lectures, videos, group discussions and breakout rooms. You must join with a device that has a webcam and microphone.
