Specialized Behaviour Management Theory (SBMT)

Overview: This 2-day workshop exposes participants to basic behavioral principles, behavior management strategies, philosophical/ethical considerations related to the use of behavior management/behavior change procedures that may be considered restrictive or intrusive, Dual diagnosis & Pharmacological intervention and Taking care of Oneself – Stress management techniques for the care provider.

Learning Objectives:

Participant Experience:

This workshop includes the use of lecture, videos, group discussions, and breakout rooms. Participants are expected to join using a device with a webcam and microphone to fully participate. The learning of key concepts and principles is facilitated by having participants complete a practicum workbook over the course of the workshop.  This exercise encourages participants to apply new knowledge to their own real-life experience of challenging behavior.  Each participant will then complete a post-workshop review of the practicum workbook with his/her immediate supervisor to facilitate a transfer of learning back to the work environment.

Corporate Education training is open to all St.Amant staff and volunteers, and hosted on Zoom. You may need approval from your supervisor to attend. If you are not a St.Amant staff, and would like more information about training, please email training@stamant.ca
