Supporting Success: Everyday Essentials
Formerly known as Specialized Behaviour Management Theory (SBMT).
The objective of this training is to help our employees understand why the people we support may have challenging behaviour, learn some strategies to better support them, and learn how to support ourselves as caregivers.
Learning Objectives
- Explain how disability influences limitations for the people we support
- Identify how diagnosis, mental health and behaviour are linked
- List the five contributors to behaviour
- Define behaviour
- List the three factors that affect current behaviour and which factor we can change
- Define challenging behaviour and how it differs from socially acceptable behaviour
- List the two main reasons that behaviours meet our needs
- Identify the main bias in determining if change is needed
What you can expect
In this workshop you can expect lectures, videos, group discussions and breakout rooms. You must join with a device that has a webcam and microphone.
