Understanding Behaviour, Safety and Wellness For Families
In this 3-hour workshop, attendees will be introduced to why people behave in the ways they do. Behaviours can sometimes be disruptive and create barriers to children accessing important opportunities, and can make it harder for them to learn skills. Behaviours can also pose a safety risk to the child themselves, or those around them. We will also look at wellness and mental health as it is important to acknowledge that experiencing and managing intense behaviours is physically and mentally exhausting for all involved.
We will:
- Review how to proactively plan for and respond directly to challenging behaviours.
- Discuss how to keep everyone as safe as possible in difficult situations.
- Review tools to manage difficult emotions, and discuss how taking care of ourselves is one of the best ways we can support the people we love.
