Come celebrate St.Amant’s fundraising efforts with free admission at our signature event at 440 River Road.
“You don’t have to know someone with a disability to know that everyone needs friendship, a connection to our community and a chance to give of themselves,” said Festival co-chair Patrick Cloutier, who is supported by St.Amant’s Supported Independent Living Program.
Families are invited to enjoy an inclusive environment filled with a petting zoo, games, live music, pony rides, bouncers and face painting. New for this year are an Artisans’ Market with 25 vendors and a 50/50 Draw. Plus there’s a BBQ lunch to indulge in after working up an appetite participating in the Walkathon.
Proceeds go towards four funding priorities for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, such as:
- Recreational opportunities (e.g. attend sporting and cultural event)
- Personal items (e.g. prescription glasses or communication devices)
- Education (e.g. literacy and computer classes)
- St.Amant Leisure Guide, which offers free activities modified for the people St.Amant supports.
“I want to showcase how St.Amant focuses on the abilities of the people we support,” said Juliette Mucha, Director, St.Amant Foundation. “The Foundation’s objective is making goals a reality and the money we raise supports those goals. Last year we raised over $175,000 with this event and this year we’re aiming to beat that!”
Staff, friends, families and individuals we support have been collecting pledges and will walk down River Road to St. Mary’s Avenue and back to kick off the event. Slurpees from 7-Eleven will be waiting at the halfway point of the Walkathon and then everyone will enjoy an afternoon of live music, activities and the 50/50 draw back at St.Amant. The St.Amant Free the Spirit Festival is Saturday, September 26 from 10 AM to 2 PM in the Buhler Gardens behind St.Amant (440 River Road).
