What causes seizures?
There are a number of things that can cause seizures…
– Problems with brain development before birth
– Lack of oxygen or damage to the brain during birth
– Brain injury (car accidents, trauma, skull fracture, etc.)
– Brain tumour
– Alcohol and drug abuse
– Metabolic conditions (low calcium, glucose, and sodium or high glucose)
– Infections
– High fever, heat stroke
– Autoimmune disorders (conditions when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue)
