What is your role?

A caregiver’s role involves knowledge, patience, and compassion. A caregiver is in a position to have a significant influence on the quality of life of the person requiring support. Although living with epilepsy can result in personal challenges, it does not have to result in an inability to have a full and rewarding life. Care providers are instrumental in sharing information with other health care providers, helping to find effective medical treatments, and developing support network of family, friends, and other members of the health care team.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Care providers are crucial when it comes to the charting and documentation of seizure information. Each time an individual has a seizure, the care provider must chart the information before, during and after the seizure into the documentation record. It may also require that the event be documented in an incident report.
