Update to Health & Transition Services – March 5

March 5, 2021

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,

With no new cases this week, our outbreak status is officially over. Thank you to everyone for your diligence in adhering to all the PPE and distancing practices when visiting. Staff continue to monitor people who received a vaccine dose this week and they’re all doing well. There are some reports of a few people being tired, having a sore arm or headaches. This is normal after receiving the vaccine. The second dose is still scheduled for Monday, March 22, even with the news of the province delaying the second dose for Manitobans.

This was also a successful first week of the asymptomatic testing clinic for staff. Next week the clinic will be open an additional day to allow for more staff to participate. We’re encouraging staff to be tested every two weeks.

Recently, a new menu launched for people supported at H&TS and we have had a positive response to almost every new dish. We are about halfway through our second menu cycle. Nutrition Services is working on new desserts and providing contrasting vegetable colours so entree items stand out. Here are some photos of new menu items.
1. Pollock with lemon sauce  2. Teriyaki salmon
3. Tortellini with tomato sauce. 4. Chicken and black bean stew

With warm weather forecasted for the next couple days it should allow people to get out in the Buhler Gardens.Stay safe and thank you for your support.
