Summer is finally here!
With long days and warmer weather, the summer months have a different rhythm. Personally, I love to use the time to visit as many of our community homes and classrooms as I possibly can. Summer is the perfect time to reconnect with people we support and their teams.
For some of us, summer means a chance to relax, recharge, and discover endless opportunities for fun across the province. For others, it is a difficult couple of months. Parents of children with disabilities in particular, including many of our co-workers, often struggle to find accessible summer camps or childcare. And, without school, the loss of structure can bring new challenges to daily life. I want to recognize all of those realities.
No matter the season, St.Amant never stops serving people. Of course, Health and Transition Services and our community homes support people 24/7, 365 days a year. Our services for children also continue all summer long. That includes the Autism Programs’ preschool services, the St.Amant school, and our out of home children’s respite homes. We understand that children and their families count on us year-round and we are there for them.
Behind the scenes, work on our strategic plan will continue through the summer. This year, we carefully selected seven organizational strategic projects. Those projects will have an impact on large numbers of people we support, on the overall future direction of St.Amant, and help us more fully live our values and commitment to people’s rights. We are excited to share more information about each project in July, across our social media channels.
As usual, I will not publish a monthly message in August. Until next time, I wish you and everyone in your life moments of peace and beauty over the summer.
