Hello,
We continue to ensure your loved ones remain engaged and active during our first taste of winter. We have repurposed several spaces at 440 River Road to support the delivery of one-on-one and very small group recreation activity that adheres to all the current safety guidelines provided through Public Health. Bike rides, cooking, art, music, and games are being enjoyed by many!
I want to acknowledge the continued increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in Winnipeg and how unsettling that feels for everyone. Please know that you aren’t alone in these feelings and there is support available. The Manitoba Government has a free online mental health tool: https://www.gov.mb.ca/ covid19/bewell/virtualtherapy.html. The Compassion Network is offering online Mindful Self Compassion:
https://compassionaction.ca/events/, and there’s also Sara Riel’s 24/7 Seneca Warm Line at 204-942-9276.
As a reminder, families will be contacted if their loved ones require a COVID-19 test. Also, Long Term Care facilities within the Winnipeg metropolitan area remain elevated to the RED (CRITICAL) level, and two designated family caregivers may visit, one at a time. Window wishes and virtual visits continue to be options for anyone who wants to visit; please contact the area where your loved one is supported to make these arrangements. Progress has been made on visitation plans for fall/winter and details will be shared soon.
Public Health has released new requirements for shared break room spaces. This will further help in the fight against COVID-19 and includes the introduction of capacity limits, and a sign in and out process to assist with contact tracing. Our Infection Prevention & Control Nurse has implemented these requirements and continues to support staff in their understanding and adherence to ALL recommended safety practices. Our staff are doing everything they can to keep your loved ones safe.
Thank you for your continued support.
Stay warm and stay safe,
Sarah Mankelow,
Director of Health & Transition Services
