Enhanced Consultative Services
The St.Amant Autism Programs offers Enhanced Consultative Services to students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who have previously participated in the St.Amant Autism Programs. This service provides students and their education team access to consultation, individualized and group interventions, and workshops.
Services include the following options:
We are available to provide support to the student and the education team throughout the school year for support with skill development, to make documented recommendations, and to participate in planning meetings as requested.
For students who require a formal learning program targeting skill development and/or amelioration of challenging behaviours, our clinicians will work with the education team to develop an individualized intervention. In collaboration with the education team we can conduct a behavioural assessment, develop a treatment plan, support the education team to implement the plan, and provide data collection and progress analysis.
Group Interventions (beginning in September 2016)
Group interventions will target specific areas of development such as social skills, safety skills, etc. After an evaluation, students will attend group sessions to focus on behavioural strategies over the course of a number of weeks. St.Amant will also provide support to school staff to ensure continuity in the classroom as well as a report on the student’s progress.
Knowledge Translation / Education
Workshops and presentations are available to the education team on topics such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), challenging behaviours, increasing communication skills, social skills, etc. St.Amant will work with the education team to provide a presentation/workshop either at the school or off-site. These presentations / workshops are not student specific, but more general in nature.
Our goal in providing Enhanced Consultative Services is to work in collaboration with education teams to support the students to have the most positive and productive educational experience possible. The referral for the Enhanced Consultative Services must be approved by the student’s divisional representative, the Student Services Administrator/Consultant (SSA/SSC). Parents are encouraged to work with their child’s education team in preparing the referral.
Schools can refer using the Enhanced Consultative Services referral form which is available below and has been sent to all Student Services Administrators/Consultants (SSA/SSC) in Manitoba. The form can be sent to:
