River Road Child Care
Early Learning and Child Care
River Road Child Care (RRCC) offers early learning and care to all children ages 0-6 years. RRCC is located at 440 River Road.
Our child care centre offers 12 infant spaces ages 3 months to 2 years and 40 preschool spaces 2-6 yrs.
We prioritize care for staff employed by St.Amant. We offer natural proportion of 10-15% of our spaces for children with additional support needs.
Our hours of operation are 7am-6pm, Monday to Friday.
We provide high-quality early learning focused on a child centered curriculum.
We are committed to St.Amant’s values through our method of teaching children. Our way of educating children is reflected in the way we interact, teach and give care. It’s reflected in the environment and experiences that have been designed with purpose to build learning opportunities for all children.
We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education which views young children as competent individuals who are curious about their world and have the powerful potential to learn from all that surrounds them. Collaboration with families, the St.Amant community and our early childhood staff is instrumental in providing a curriculum based on each individual child.
We practice an emergent curriculum approach where planning is based on observations of the children. We follow the children’s lead and plan according to their individual interests, abilities and needs. From our observations we develop a program that supports the development of the whole child; socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively and spiritually.
We believe children have the right to be cared for in an atmosphere of warmth, acceptance, respect, love and laughter. At RRCC the interactions and relationships are key to an environment that promotes the development and well-being of the family. RRCC practices Circle of Security®, which is an innovative intervention program designed to improve the developmental pathway of children and their parents.
The transition from early learning and child care to kindergarten is important and when children have had good quality early learning experiences from 0-5 years they are well on their way to positive outcomes in school.
