River Road Place provides services to children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities who require 24-hour medical care. We pride ourselves on creating six main points of service for the individuals we support:

We maintain and enhance a person’s abilities and their opportunities for self-determination by:

  • Facilitating the transfer of acquired skills into all environments
  • Developing structured leisure and experiential programs during evenings, weekends and on school holidays
  • Providing structured, individualized programs for adults over 21 years of age with vocational, developmental and experiential components
  • Maximizing opportunities for individuals to participate in the community outside of River Road Place

We foster a sense of security and safety by providing:

  • A stable home and an enriched, non-restrictive lifestyle
  • An individualized approach to care that promotes stability, continuity and patterns of life that are as normal as possible
