Spiritual Health Services

Overview

We define spiritual health as a person’s ability to.

  • Make personal meaning in life;
  • Come to an understanding of their sense of self; and
  • Appreciate the need for and value their connections with others.

Good spiritual health is essential to our well-being. We all share a responsibility to support the spiritual health of everyone in our community. This includes the people we support, their families, our colleagues, volunteers and visitors to our organization

We recognize that spirituality and religion are related but not the same. A person may nurture their spiritual health in a religious experience or practice.Spiritual health can also be nurtured through nature, inritual, artistic self-expression, through meaningful roles and relationships and in many other ways.

Spiritual Health services include:

  • Assessing and supporting spiritual values, whatever they are
  • Working with people we support, their family, staff and cultural and spiritual advisors to make sure their spiritual needs are understood and met
  • Supporting a person’s spiritual health during crisis or life and health changes
