Set up an Instagram account step-by-step
Start by making sure the person has an email account to set up Instagram
Go to Instagram.com and Click “Don’t have an account? Sign up”
Then you will be asked to enter:
- Password
- Name
- User name
Next you will be asked for your birthday:
A verification code will be sent to your email, enter this code to activate the account
Once you have entered the correct verification code you can personalize your account starting with people you may want to add and or follow
Once you’ve picked who you would like to follow you can click on the “profile” toggle. From here it will bring you to your profile and you can select edit profile to customize yours
From here there will be fields to fill in with information you wish to share as well as an option to choose a profile photo.
Under the settings panel there is an option to change your account privacy settings to meet your preferences of either have a private account or public.
Once you have set up your account you are able to look people up under the “search” toggle, view peoples posts on the “home” toggle, watch short videos under “reels” and check messages that may be sent to you under “messages”.
To make a post you can click the “Create toggle”, and to check how others are interacting with your posts you can click the “Notification “toggle.
You may ask, “how do I interact with other peoples posts?”
- The heart will allow to you to like a post
- The speech bubble will allow you to comment on the post
- The “Paper airplane” or arrow will allow you to send the post to someone via messages
- And the book mark will allow you to save the post to view later
