St.Amant: Woven In Her Family Roots

February 14, 2023

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Brittney Pilotte has always had a connection to St.Amant – a connection that began in her mother’s womb!

In 1991, before Brittney’s mother took maternity leave to raise her family, she worked at St.Amant as a Resident Assistant Brittney says, “St.Amant has always been woven in me.”

Although she’s worked in various roles in the restaurant business, construction, and customer service agencies – she always knew she wanted to work in the healthcare sector, like her mother. This inspired her to complete her Health Unit Clerk certification at Red River College at a young age. Shortly after, Brittney began her 12-year career here at St.Amant.

She started as a Support Worker and then became Health Unit Clerk where she had the chance to help coordinate meaningful activities for the people we support, and she says “from day one I’ve always felt accepted, a part of a team, and appreciated. It’s a good place to work.”

From the womb to adulthood, to raising a family of her own – Brittney has her roots here at St.Amant – roots that continue to grow within her own children.

Brittney values work-life balance with two children under the age of 8, she is grateful for St.Amant’s support throughout her life’s journey. With a smile, she says “they have a daycare onsite here, so I was able to get both my children in!” She says “It’s hard to get kids in daycare, the lists can be so long. I was so thankful to have a daycare that was so convenient and right there when I needed it most.”

Her kids were just a few minutes away from her, and she was able to continue growing her career. “I would call the daycare by dialing the extension to check in and see how they were doing – The daycare was such a great asset to me”, she says with relief.

The support has allowed her to grow a meaningful career here at St.Amant.
Since starting her role as Operations Assistant, Brittney has found a new sense of calm and balance. She says, “I get to work from the office, and home! As a mom, with two young kids, I’m no longer spread so thin.”

She ends with “I love working at St.Amant. It’s a flexible and accommodating workplace. The balance I have here helps me in all aspects of life – from being a good mom, partner, worker, and a friend.”

Message from the CEO

Every Friday, I visit one of our community homes. Connecting with people I don’t get to see very often is a great way to finish the week. A little while ago, a support worker asked me what I expect and what I’m looking for in a home. It was a good question. My visits are […]
