Renovations to the Stabilization Unit began in December with asbestos removal, a critical step in ensuring a safe work site and future living environment.

Once that was complete, demolition began. As you will see in the photos below, the demolition is now complete. The mechanical and electrical is almost finished and new walls are being installed. New frames for windows have been added to look out onto the greenspace, and now that the drywall is starting to go up, you can get a good sense of what the new space will look like when it’s finished. It’s exciting to see the new space start to take shape.

As with most construction projects, ours is not without hiccups. In the demolition phase, we found some moisture issues which resulted in replacing the walls effected and we won’t escape the supply chain issues that the entire world is facing. At this time we have heard there will be delays on doors, furniture and our specialized fire alarm system.

We will continue to share updates regularly. If you have any questions, you can connect with Kate MacKay, Senior Manager in Operations and the project lead.
