RE: Stabilization renovation
Dear Health & Transition Services Families:
The long awaited day is upon us, a contractor has been selected and the plans are ready and the fundraising is almost complete! A new stabilization area is nearly in the works for St.Amant’s Health & Transition Services. The area formerly used as the Cottages, will be upgraded to meet the complex needs of stabilization work. The new spaces have been designed to provide a comfortable and safe environment. Office moves have already taken place and people currently supported within this area have been, or will soon be moved to other parts of the stabilization area.
We have ensured that the current number of people can continue to be served while the renovations are taking place, within the current stabilization areas. This still allows us flexibility within the building in the case of any COVID-19 cases.
We are exceptionally aware of the requirements to keep the renovation and the contractors separate from the people we support, especially during the pandemic and have many precautions in place. Contractors will have a separate entrance, the work area will be hoarded off so that no contractors can enter the other parts of the building. They will have separate washrooms and a work trailer for office and break space. At no time will the contractors enter the operational parts of the building. All contractors must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to work on this project.
Plans are underway for a ground-breaking ceremony on this $4Million project and construction will also officially start very soon. Our plan is to send you updates frequently (at a minimum once a month – but more frequently if there’s lots of news). So keep your eye out for the official start date! We anticipate the new space to be ready and operating before 2023.
Throughout the project, if you have any questions, you can reach out to Todd MacDonald, Senior Manager for HTS or Kate MacKay, Senior Manager for Operations. Both are managing the project and responsible for the program (Todd) and project (Kate) sides of the work.
