Update to Health & Transition Services Families – April 30, 2021

April 30, 2021

Dear Families,
As shared earlier this week, there are no changes to our visitation guidelines. Our screening process and your continued commitment to wearing Personal Protective Equipment while visiting allows us to safely maintain visits through these latest changes to Public Health Guidelines. Outdoor visits will be starting soon.

Shared Health has released a change in the definition of a COVID-19 outbreak on the recommendation from the Public Health Agency of Canada. This means that a single positive case in either staff or a person supported is no longer considered an “outbreak” of COVID-19. We are reviewing our current communication processes, along with how we implement additional safety measures when there is a single case. Details are being worked out and will be shared with you when confirmed. Until then, our communication around positive cases will remain the same. Please know that immediate isolation of a positive case, enhanced cleaning, and contact tracing will remain top priorities.

We received a donation for a photo printer which will aid in maintaining connection with your loved one. Confidential sharing of photos of your loved ones directly with you is being planned; please contact the Recreation Instructor in the area your loved one is supported for more details.

If you haven’t received your COVID-19 vaccine yet, please make time to book an appointment at https://protectmb.ca/making-your-appointment-is-easy/. Currently the earliest you can get an appointment for a vaccine at a super site is 16-17 days. By getting your vaccine you can help protect yourself and others.

We continue to get closer to the end of this pandemic. We are so grateful for your support, feedback, and kind words.

Stay safe,

Sarah Mankelow
Director, Health & Transition Services
