Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
Two of the people who were being supported in the red cohort zone have recovered from COVID-19 and moved back home. Unfortunately, we did have one death due to COVID-19 on the weekend at hospital as a result of our outbreak. Our thoughts go out to his family and to the team of staff on Adult Health Services West who cared for him over these many years.
We have no new H&TS staff cases and no new cases in people we support. Currently our red cohort zone is empty, and we hope that it stays that way. We continue to monitor all of the people supported in H&TS closely and will notify you if your loved one develops symptoms and requires a test for COVID-19. We won’t be able to declare our outbreak over until later in January, however we are feeling more comfortable now given the last week of no new cases.
We have now re-opened to scheduled visits in one of the two newly developed visitation spaces. Please remember to book your visit with Ruth or one of the Recreation Instructors. Virtual visits also remain available, so please let staff know if that’s what you would prefer.
We know that this holiday season will be a different one for all of us, but we trust that the sacrifices we are making this year in not gathering with loved ones and friends, will ensure that we are all here and able to gather next year. The staff have worked hard to ensure that there will be festivities over the holidays. Plus, there are a few special surprises for you that your family members hope that you will like!
Thank you for your continued support.
We wish you a peaceful holidays and a healthy and happy 2021.
Be well.
Joanne van Dyck,
Senior Manager, Health & Transition Services
