Update to Health & Transition Services Families – November 20, 2020

November 20, 2020

Hello,
The COVID-19 outbreak in Stabilization Services remains unchanged with no additional cases related to it. We have now received confirmation that the end date for the outbreak is Friday, December 4. This is done out of an abundance of caution and is 30 days from the last date a positive employee was in the facility. This does not increase the risk to the people supported in this area as the positive staff member had no contact with any of the residents when they last worked.

We have temporarily suspended visits on Child & Young Adult Health Services-West (also known as 2 West) related to some gastrointestinal illness symptoms in some of the people supported. We have initiated isolation protocols and have also sent the required swabs for COVID-19 out of an abundance of caution. You would have been notified directly if your loved one was tested for COVID-19 or is feeling unwell.

Holiday planning is well underway at H&TS! Decorations will be hung in the atrium and East Dining Room, virtual visits and photos with Santa are being planned for those who want them, and Secret Santa will be supported for those who wish to participate. There is a surprise in store for all of you, but I have been sworn to secrecy; you’ll have to wait until Christmas! We are pleased to be able to continue some of the much loved and looked forward to traditions, although we know it will look and feel different for many.

Wishbook Basket orders have been placed for all who want them (which is everyone!) The Volunteer Services team has pivoted quickly to make sure they can source the items online given the new restrictions around non-essential shopping.
Email invites were sent out for next Friday evening’s virtual town hall for families. There is a posting on the website, and letters are in the mail for those who don’t have computer access. We hope to see you there!

Wishing you all a peaceful and restful weekend. Stay home and stay safe!
