Update to H&TS Families – January 7, 2022

January 7, 2022

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
We hope this email finds you healthy, well, and warm. Today, we’re sharing an update on the status of isolation and precautions currently in place at Health & Transition Services due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in our province.
After reviewing the positive cases in staff and people supported in H&TS with our Infection Prevention & Control Manager and in consultation with WRHA Infection Prevention & Control, we can announce that outbreaks have been declared in the following areas:

  • Adult Services East
  • Adult Services West
  • Child & Young Adult Health Services East
  • Child & Young Adult Health Services West
  • Adult Health Services West
  • Stabilization Services – Riverside

Adult Health Services West was previously declared in an outbreak; the other areas are additions primarily due to staff positive cases.
While this news can be unsettling for you to hear, rest assured that your loved ones are being well cared for. Unit and recreation staff, along with some St.Amant School staff are still moving about quarantined areas and rooms and interacting with your loved ones regularly.
Activities like virtual music therapy and one-on-one recreation activities are still occurring. In addition, Andrew Terhoch and his Spiritual Care staff are continuing to offer services virtually for anyone interested.
At this time, we are continuing to hold off on family visits to H&TS until the occurrence of COVID-19 cases are more stabilized. An update on when visits can resume will be sent as soon as they can be allowed.
Staffing levels are monitored daily. While some staff are off work due to COVID-19, the reduced isolation period of five days (from the previous ten-day period) means that we are already seeing staff return to work.
Please reach out any time you have questions.
Thanks so much for both your patience and support during this time.
Jennifer Busch, Senior Manager
Todd MacDonald, Senior Manager
