Update to St.Amant Families – December 24, 2021

December 24, 2021

Dear St.Amant Families,

Since announcing the outbreak status of St.Amant School, four more positive cases have been confirmed. One staff in each of the following programs: Community Residential Program, St.Amant School (community), Health & Transition Services, and one community student. The H&TS staff was not at work during the period of communicability; and so no one at St.Amant was exposed. Everyone is recovering at home and we wish them a quick recovery.

With the expected spread of the Omicron variant over the next few weeks, please be hyper-vigilant about any symptoms that you may experience and get tested promptly, even if symptoms are mild.

With the recent announcement of extending the winter break for Manitoba schools, in-person learning at the St.Amant School will tentatively resume on January 10, 2022. In addition, our Autism Program’s early learning classrooms will also remain closed until Monday, January 10. The Gym is closed for the foreseeable future. The Gym is closed for the foreseeable future. We’re also strongly encouraging all staff who are able to work from home to do so as much as possible.

The province has started providing the general public with boxes of KN95 masks, currently distributed upon request at casinos and Liquor Marts in Winnipeg with plans for further distribution methods
to be announced soon. These masks provide greater protection than cloth or medical masks and are recommended for additional protection when out in public.

This time of year can be stressful or lonely and the pandemic is making this even worse for many, so please be kind to one another and to yourselves. For additional resources, Sara Riel’s Seneca Warm Line is a 24-hour telephone service for Manitobans struggling with issues affecting their mental health and wellness. Their number is 204-942-9276. While you may have some anxiety with rising cases across the country, I truly hope that you and your family find time to unwind and relax, and we will see you in the new year.
