Update to St.Amant Families – February 18, 2022

February 18, 2022

This week we saw ten positive cases in people we support and four positive cases in staff. For people we support: there are ten cases in Health & Transition Services. For staff: one in the Autism Programs, two in the Community Residential Programs and one in Health and Transition Services.
We’re starting to see day programs and recreational activities slowly opening their doors.
I have heard first hand; the difference that returning to work, and the social opportunities that go along with it, are making in people’s lives. I visited a woman we support this week, who was ecstatic to return to her day program. She missed her friends, she was so excited to see them.
One of the men I visited was finally able to celebrate a birthday with his family, A few folks were really looking forward to having weekend plans again- bowling and dinner at their favourite restaurant with staff!  It was so nice to hear their excitement and see the smiles on their faces.
I want to thank all the family members who took the time to send in their messages and videos to show their gratitude to staff. The staff really appreciated your messages and I really appreciate the time you took to send them.
In the coming weeks, we will continue to discuss how we are going to re-emerge from this pandemic and offer meaningful recreational opportunities, welcoming people back to certain spaces and places they may have missed, while keeping everyone healthy and safe.
Wishing you a safe and warm Louis Riel long weekend,
John Leggat
