The St.Amant Foundation is holding its annual Free the Spirit Festival, at 440 River Road on Saturday, September 26 from 10am until 2pm, our signature fundraising event of the year. This year we will be adding a new element to our event, an Artisans’ Market which will be set up for all attendees to browse and shop in during the Festival.
If you or someone you know has a business you think would be perfect for the market, please let us know. There will be no vendor set-up fee if you are interested in joining our Artisans Market. However, we do ask that you donate 10% of your day’s earnings to the St.Amant Foundation, in support of our top fund priorities.
Your contribution will directly impact and improve the quality of life for people living with developmental disabilities and autism. If you have any questions, you can reach our Artisans’ Market Coordinator, Christie Lafreniere, at 204.256.4301 ext.2002 or by email at clafreniere@stamant.ca.
The proceeds raised during the Festival will be used to create opportunities for inclusion and friendship for the 1,800 individuals we support. One of our priorities is to focus on social and recreational activities that eliminate isolation and loneliness, and to increase overall quality of life, such as the creation of the following new fund priorities:
- St.Amant Leisure Guide: similar to the City of Winnipeg’s program however offering modified activities specifically tailored to one’s ability (e.g. crafts, dance, swim, Funky Monkey café, etc.)
- Recreation: support positive social relationships, restores balance in life and provides a variety of choices (e.g. attend sporting and cultural events, community activities, or even have the chance to visit one’s family that live out of Winnipeg)
- Personal Items & Equipment: priority to support the purchase of prescription glasses, hearing aids, power units for lifts, speech and communication devices, dental procedures
- Education & Technology: provide an opportunity to continue post-secondary education, literacy and computer classes, driver’s education course, tutoring and more with the appropriate technology needs to help ensure a positive experience.
