Visitation Update to Health & Transition Services – November 9, 2021

November 12, 2021

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
As you may have seen on the news late last week, Public Health and Shared Health have changed the visitation principles for Designated Family Caregivers (DFC) and effective November 15, all DFC’s are required to be fully vaccinated in order to visit on the living unit. Any DFC that is not fully vaccinated can still visit in the visitation shelter/pod.
Starting November 15, staff will ask all DFC’s for proof of vaccination before accepting visitation in the living areas or to the visitation suites (on the main floor). Please ensure that you have your vaccine card or a print out of your vaccination status with you when you visit.
As you have also likely seen, cases of COVID-19 are on the rise in Manitoba and most intensive care unit stays are in people who are not vaccinated. Our goal is to keep everyone we support at St.Amant safe and to ensure that we’re following all Public Health recommendations. In addition to this requirement we:

  • Are supporting all eligible residents and staff to receive a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This booster dose offers additional protection to residents and staff who were vaccinated approximately six months ago. We continue to advocate for all residents to be eligible;
  • Continue to screening of all staff and visitors before entry; and
  • Are vigilant with infection prevention and control protocols including use of personal protective equipment, proper hand hygiene, physical distancing, etc.

If you would like more information about the new requirement for DFC’s, please visit: https://sharedhealthmb.ca/files/covid-19-pch-visitation-principles.pdf
Thank you for your ongoing patience, support and understanding with the many changes and requirements in place to keep everyone safe. Your kindness and consideration make a huge difference to your loved ones and our team during these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Busch, Senior Manager
Health & Transition Services
