School Volunteer Program
We have an array of opportunities for volunteers in Grade 7 and higher and welcome schools and classrooms to volunteer throughout the year.
The following information may help you decide whether your classroom would make good volunteers at St.Amant.
Our role is to ensure a successful match between the volunteer and the positions we have available. All volunteers go through the same intake and screening processes.
All prospective volunteers must complete an application form, participate in an interview and pass reference checks. Because we take our responsibility for the individuals at St.Amant seriously, teachers must also complete a Teacher Assessment form and all students must attend the volunteer orientation prior to their first shift.
Students 16 years and over will need to sign a consent form, provide photocopies of two pieces of ID and undergo Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks.
Community service commitment
Because of the time it takes to orientate and train new volunteers in their new roles, we accept volunteers who can commit to 40 or more hours. We ask you to encourage students to apply early in the school year so they can get their required hours.
The application package includes the following forms that must be completed and returned: Volunteer Application Form, Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check form.
Our website includes an application form, volunteer opportunities fact sheet and information about Criminal Record checks and Child Abuse Registry checks. We can also mail you an application package.
If you wish, we will gladly speak with your students about volunteering. You can call our office at 204-258-7048 to arrange a time that is good for your class.
