Living Area Renovation & Respite Upate

February 5, 2016

Renovations will continue at River Road Place thanks to the St.Amant Foundation receiving a $950, 000 grant from The Winnipeg Foundation last month. A part of those funds have been designated for the next renovated unit, which is 3-West.
The design will be similar to 1-East. If you haven’t had a chance to take a look, please feel free to ask for a tour. These renovations will begin within the next few months. Staff and residents will move temporarily to another living area until the construction is complete and although the goal is for everyone to have a private room, some residents may need to share accommodations while the renovations are in progress. At this point construction is anticipated to take roughly 18 months, however, it will be completed in phases; not all residents will be displaced at once or for the whole time. We look forward to opening the new space and offering a brighter, more private and personal living space very soon.
The St.Amant Foundation is hard at work fundraising to complete renovations on all remaining units.
The location of respite beds for adults at River Road Place will be consolidated on the north wing of 3-West (above the chapel) and that change will happen once the 3-East renovations are complete. The two children’s respite beds will remain on 2-East. St.Amant will evaluate whether we are able to increase the number of children’s respite beds on this unit as our expansion and transition initiatives unfold.
