Gratitude in Action

When Mel Jessup wanted to thank the St.Amant Autism Program staff, she took to social media to make a difference. Her 50/50 draw, shared on Facebook, sold out in under one week! She donated over $1000 for the St.Amant Autism Programs to help families like hers.

When Mel first found out her daughter was accepted into the St.Amant Autism Program, she was hesitant. “This was the first time in her life that she wasn’t with me, that anyone else has watched her.” While Mel and her family were anxious to begin the program, the transition went smoothly, her daughter hasn’t looked back since, and is excited to go the Wall Street Classroom every day. “She is thriving! It’s the people that make the difference, the staff make a difference in my daughter’s life and in my family’s life!”

Mel wanted to say more than thank you and act on her gratitude. She took to social media to raise money for the life-changing program by starting a 50/50 draw online. She surpassed her goal in only seven days “I sold 100 blocks, ten dollars each block” Mel explains, the blocks are made from a cardboard sheet, each square a chance to win the lottery, and to make a difference in the lives of children with autism. Facebook friends kept donating directly to St.Amant, even after the draw was over. Mel is going to create another draw this year, bigger and better “I’m going to double it and make a sheet of 200 blocks!”

Mel wanted to take action when she felt words weren’t enough “There is no way to say thank you, I can’t put it into words, my daughter wouldn’t have the opportunity to shine, and be who she is, without the support of the St.Amant Autism programs”
