Training Overview

In this workshop you will learn about the unique needs, sensitivities, and preferences of people with intellectual disabilities. We will examine the short and long-term impacts of stress, and how we can use mindfulness to make the support we provide as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We will look at examples of how mindfulness impacts ourselves as well as those around us.

Learning Objectives

  • Compare the way people experience stress, and how that stress impacts their health.
  • Recognize the potential for stress in the support that we provide to people.
  • Identify the three guiding principles of mindfulness.
  • Relate mindfulness to our own experience and work.
